My internship at the National Journalism Center was one of the most formative experiences of my life. It taught me valuable skills and the need for careful reporting and opened many doors for me. It is one of the best job experiences one could wish for in Washington."The National Journalism Center is an unequalled training ground for youthful writers and reporters. Thanks to the NJC, I got my start interning for Bob Novak, learning the essential skills of media work from an accomplished real-world pro. For young people aspiring to press careers, the best advice that I can offer -- and do -- is: Enroll at the NJC as soon as you can get there.

The National Journalism Center is an excellent training ground for writers. Most beginning journalists want to write meandering thought pieces, but most beginning writers don't have enough original thoughts to make that a profitable enterprise. NJC teaches writers to locate primary sources, run down facts, and get quotes. Partisan bile you have to develop on your own.
